Tomsk scientist circumnavigated Antarctica with the International Antarctic Coastal Circumnavigation Expedition
The International Antarctic Coastal Circumnavigation Expedition (ICCE 2024-2025) onboard the Russian research vessel Akademik Treshnikov has successfully completed in Brazil after rounding Antarctica.
About 50 scientists from 19 scientific organizations of the BRICS countries investigated the changing Antarctic environment. One of the main goals of the expedition was to study the impact of global warming on the continent.
Yuri Turchinovich, leading programmer of the V.E. Zuev Institute of Atmospheric Optics SB RAS took part in the expedition. He collected data on atmospheric aerosol that is one of the important components of global warming mechanisms.
